So, here’s this. The pressure Hades exerts on Persephone’s thigh is kind of amazing, a first as far as sculpture was concerned. And…a first that hasn’t really ever been surpassed.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who truly appreciates this art.

Wait this isn’t two actual people? That is magnificent.

When I first saw this sculpture, right up close, I almost started crying. Not gonna lie It’s so completely and utterly beautiful in every sense of the word. 

This was a solid cube. A big hunk-o-rock. And then the artist saw the figures and the movement in the stone and chiselled away to reveal the flesh underneath. We can see the translucency of the skin, the pressure of his fingers, the lightness of the cloth around them. All perfectly balanced.

Artistry.
